* 5-lipoxygenase inhibitors selectively inhibit enzyme systems that are responsible for producing leucotrienes. Production of these biochemicals is a major factor in keeping inflammatory conditions running. By inhibiting leucotriene production, only 5-lipoxygenase inhibitors help prevent both chronic and acute inflammation without the side effects of steroids or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications.

Why do so many suffer from respiratory conditions?

Herbs provide many phytochemicals (e.g. polyphenols, tannins, essential oils) that are lacking in the modern diet. While many factors are involved in the current increase in chronic respiratory diseases, a deep underlying cause is the fact that we have strayed too far from our evolutionary diet. Consider this: it is not so much that the RespirActin® herbs "cure" chronic respiratory conditions, but rather the fact that the systematic removal of many beneficial bioprotectant chemicals from the modern diet has served to help bring on the disease condition! This is why RespirActin® liquid herbal formula can bring your respiratory system back into balance.

Bronchus

In our evolutionary days, we relied on wild fruits and vegetables, and were absolutely constrained by seasonality. We did not run down to the market in February for a cantaloupe and fresh greens. Our present fruits and vegetables are largely the result of centuries of horticulture that has bred plants to be larger, sweeter, and milder. Many of the astringent and bitter compounds that are naturally present in fruits and vegetables have been bred down to very low levels. Our ancestors did not have navel oranges, seedless green grapes, golden delicious apples, bing cherries, and iceberg lettuce. They had things more like kumquats, wild grapes, persimmons, crabapples, chokecherries, dandelion greens, and sorrel. They even had to eat tree bark at times in order not to die from scurvy!

It is important to understand that herbal tonics in general are more than just adjuncts to your diet. They are in fact concentrations of beneficial compounds that were more common in our diet during the evolutionary period. There has been no significant biological evolution for 100,000 years. For 99.8% of our time we ate wild foods, and we evolved in the absence of agriculture. As far as your body and its nutritional needs are concerned, you are still a Paleolithic hunter-gatherer. Chronic diseases of all sorts are overwhelmingly due to straying from our evolutionary hunter-gatherer diets. What is this diet? Lean meat, seafood, large amounts of raw fruits and vegetables, occasional nuts and seeds. No cereal grains, refined sugar, dairy, alcohol, trans-fats, or large amounts of animal fat and beans. Nothing processed, preserved, or artificial.

Help for Asthma Sufferers
By: Reta Lee

So you're having a bad air day. Your hay fever's in full force, your head's stuffy, you're sneezing, and your chest feels closed up. But help is at hand. No, not an expensive pharmaceutical preparation but an alternative - a gentle, herbal solution.

The latest rescue preparation for hay fever, allergy and respiratory problem sufferers is RespirActin®. Imported into South Africa by a man who found it to be his own medicinal holy grail, it's a marvelous concoction of herbs like rosemary, sage, cinnamon, witch hazel, chamomile and black cumin seed. - Effective for all ages, the mixture is made from a treasured 100-year-old remedy, and works immediately.

Says distributor John Atkinson of Johannesburg: "We used to live up in Vic Fall, Zimbabwe, and had moved into a thatched house with gum poles. For six months I coughed myself senseless. A pulmonologist diagnosed asthma and I was prescribed the standard inhalers etc. I still coughed. Then a friend brought me this magic mixture and within two weeks, my problems had gone. It was RespirActin®."

Respiratory problems

However, having never been a believer in herbal remedies, Atkinson was still skeptical: "Shortly after, my eight-month-old son developed an immunoglobula deficiency which led to perpetual colds and chest infections.
He was in an oxygen tent on a drip three times in six months. Eventually we tried him on RespirActin®. It fixed his respiratory problems."

By this time, said Atkinson, they'd moved down to Johannesburg because of his son's problems. "I went into a Jo'burg chemist to buy RespirActin® and was told it wasn't available in the country. So I ordered half a dozen bottles from the distributors in Canada."

That was two years ago, he said, and his son hasn't had a problem since.

"But I was so impressed with the stuff I started importing it. It's pleasant tasting, he says, so children swallow it easily. It opens the airways and soothes the throat. It can quickly provide clearer breathing and relief from asthma, allergies, hay fever, running nose and scratchy throat. It has no caffeine or preservatives - the only preservative is honey. It also aids athletes.

Taken 20 minutes before a workout it provides freer breathing and can help the flow of oxygen to the tissues. The herbs in RespirActin® have clear and direct effects on our respiratory and digestive systems. Other not so fragrant herbal ingredients provide synergistic benefits, including soothing mucilage and astringent, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties.

Atkinson stressed that the mixture was not a cure. "It won't cure emphysema, for instance, but it will certainly ease the sufferer' breathing."

So convinced of it's efficacy is local horse trainer Duncan McKenzie that he's bought some for his race horses.

"Horses can be like humans," he said. "They also go through the sniffles, and one of my horses is very prone to chestiness. I've bought RespirActin® and am about to try it on my animals." Watch this space!

Meanwhile, a local pathologist said: " RespirActin® doesn't cure, but it provides symptomatic relief and enhances functions to a marked degree."

"My son plays under 19 rugby, and uses it before a game. He has no chest problems but said it improves his respiration. It's actually recommended for sportsmen."

RespirActin® is distributed through United Pharmaceutical Distributors available from selected pharmacies and health stores in KwaZuluNatal.
