Panaceo Sport

PANACEO is a preparation of activated mineral zeolite, dolomite and Maca. Zeolites are made of volcanic ash and silicon which have been activated using a specific and unique micronization process. They are natural micro-porous silicate minerals that can be colourless, white or pale red. Zeolites are very strong ion exchangers and research has shown them to have a high affinity for heavy metals and radioactive substances. They are also a strong antioxidant, immune modulator and antiviral agent.

Exercise and Oxidative Stress:

Oxidative metabolism is, on the one hand, the most efficient way to produce energy and, on the other, the cause of free oxygen radicals. Oxidative stress is the predominance of free oxygen radicals, which cause damage to cell membranes and other biological structures (lipids, proteins, DNA...). Studies have shown that intensive, or improper, muscle training can lead to increased oxidative stress in individuals. Free radicals are particles with an unpaired electron which makes them unstable, short lived and highly reactive. The number of reactive free radicals can also be increased by:

    - consumption of stimulants (alcohol and tobacco).
    - diets that are rich in fats.
    - environmental pollution.
    - physical stress.
    - metabolization of various medicines.
    - UV-radiation.

Clinoptilolite, a naturally occurring zeolite, helps reduce damage to biological structures by reducing the number of free radicals. Through a unique process of micronized activation, the physicochemical properties of natural zeolites are altered by breaking links between electrons and allowing them to revert to a distribution of semi-availability. This allows the electrons to be freed easily, particularly when they come into contact with free radicals, whose molecules have an electron missing. The reduction of free radicals allows an individual to save oxygen required for energy needed to repair damage to biological structures.

Cell membranes consist of unsaturated fatty acids that can react very quickly with free radicals. Since free radicals are difficult to measure, the extent of damage to cell membranes by them can be attained through the measurement of lipid peroxidation.

In this regard, a clinical assessment, by Dr. Wolfgang Thoma and Dr. Claudia Gunzer at Privatklinik Villach in Austria, was performed on 33 subjects by measuring the hydroperoxides (by-products of the oxidized lipids) in the blood with the Free Radical Analytic System (FRAS) to determine oxidative stress. A reduction of free radicals was observed in all test subjects. The average change per unit was 63 U.Carr., in cases of individuals with illness, and 83 U.Carr., in cases of healthy individuals. In 49% of the cases, oxidative stress was reduced from values over 300 U.Carr. to values between 200 and 299 U.Carr. In general, the study showed an average reduction of free radicals in the blood by 20.1%

The increase of lipid hydroxides after meals is resorbed in the small intestine and passes into the blood stream, Dr. Peter M. Abuja, at the Institute of Biophysics and X-ray Structure Research in Graz, observed that the insolubility of PANACEO prevents a direct systemic effect of lipid peroxidation into the blood stream. Dr, Ajuba concluded that the effect of PANACEO, based on its cation binding capacity. can slow down gastric lipid peroxidation by approximately 50 %.

Panaceo Sport and Lactic Acid:

Muscles are powered by Adenosine Triphosphate, or ATP. The more oxygen an individual can use during an activity, the more ATP their body can produce.
During high-intensity exercise, an accumulation of lactic acid (lactate and its associated proton released by the breakdown of ATP) occurs in muscles due to a lack of oxygen and a greater reliance on the anaerobic system for energy production.  If there is an adequate supply of oxygen, the cell can use protons to reconstitute ATP; otherwise lactate is produced to neutralize the cell’s elevating accumulation of protons which is the determining factor of acidosis in the muscles. Once the body slows down, oxygen becomes available and aerobic metabolism can resume removing the build-up of lactic acid, which can be converted back to glucose to be metabolized into energy or stored in the muscles for later use. Energy saved by the reduction of free radicals can extend the aerobic phase of energy production, and the anaerobic threshold, or lactate threshold, is reached at a later stage.

With Panaceo Sport you can expect to:

     1) exercise within your fat burning zone for a longer period.
     2) increase oxygen supply to your heart and muscles.
     3) reduce the risk of rupture to muscle fibers.
     4) boost your immune system to improve your training.

As lactate production coincides with the onset of muscle acidosis, lactate concentration is an excellent way of measuring the metabolic condition of muscles cells and can be used to develop training programs to increase an individual’s lactate threshold.

In a study to determine the effect of PANACEO on lactate levels during physical exertion, 24 people were tested in a randomized, placebo controlled double blind study. After the initial test, without PANACEO, the subjects were administered three capsules, of either PANACEO or a placebo, three times daily. The average reduction of capillary measured lactate value after three weeks was 13.98% at 2 mmol/l while the maximum reduction recorded at the same time interval was 26.53% at 2 mmol/l. The study was conducted by
Dr. Christian Knapitsch and Prof. Siegfried Schmöler in Klagenfurt, Austria.

Benefits of Maca and Dolomite

Maca, a plant from the Andes, is considered to be very rich in essential minerals, especially selenium, calcium, magnesium and iron. Known as the "Peruvian ginseng", it provides added support to the endocrine system. This system is a collection of glands producing hormones essential for normal bodily function. Once released, they flow directly into the bloodstream and are transported to organs and tissues. Maca can help to:

     1) regulate metabolism.
     2) increase energy levels.
     3) heighten libido and improve fertility.
     4) provide a better overall sense of mental health and general wellbeing.

Dolomite is a mineral composed of calcium magnesium carbonate and has been tested to be free of heavy metals. It has been micronized and activated to increase the bioavailability of calcium and magnesium. Calcium plays an essential role in the mineralization of bones and teeth, and is also important for muscle contraction and blood coagulation. Magnesium, as the counterpart of calcium, is essential in the formation of bone tissues and the metabolization process in muscles.

PANACEO is the only zeolite product authorized for sale in Europe and is registered as a medical device. Effects and quality of this product are approved by scientific analysis according to the Medical Devise Directive 93/42 EEC. Results have been confirmed by clinical trials, world athletes and leading sport champions.
